Canvas Swap is a fantasy/science fiction themed collaborative art zine that showcases the works of at least three collaborative artists and 1 solo cover artist per issue. It’s purpose is to bring artists together to promote networking and kinship. The collaborative artists contribute to 3 unique images, each taking on a different stage for each image; Sketch, inks or colours and can be anything as long as it fits the theme of the issue and our rating. We support artists of all kinds and while our publication has a 2D visual art focus, we are happy to host all kinds of styles and creatures in our publications as long as they follow our PG rating and does not promote hate, discrimination, etc.

Who Are We?
My name’s Mea’eshana and along with my partner / husband / best friend Anhevius we’re the duo behind PhoenixFire Art Australia.
For as long as she’s been able to hold a pencil, Mea’s been drawing and doodling, and had never stopped a day since. Her dream was always to be a full time artist and recently she’s devoted herself to this dream, giving up 15 years of service she’s throwing herself into Freelance Illustration full-time.
Inspired by Disney, Anime and Manga (particularly the work of Ozamu Tezuka, Elfen Lied, Full Metal Alchemist, Studio Ghibli, etc), Dark Horse Comics, Marvel, DC and more… she’s worked for years to blend it all into her own unique and detailed style that sets her work apart from the rest.
Back in 2001 Mea entered University of SA with the intention of covering the basics - painting, drawing, ceramics… and ended up taking a side-course in Digital Art. It was a medium she instantly fell in love with due to it’s flexibility and the evolution of technology over the years. It combines her love of illustration and her love of a growing playground that is the digital canvas.
Her program of choice is Clip Studio Paint, which she uses to make 3D layouts before using that as the base reference for her art, as well as utilize a range of brushes and tools to help give her work life and depth and detail. CSP also allows her to create animated images such as emotes and stickers for use on her Twitch channel and Discord Server, which are created through traditional animation cel techniques.
In 2001, she met Anhevius online, and since that serendipitous moment, they’ve been in constant contact every single day. Even after he relocated from the United States to South Australia in 2013, he remained her number one supporter, tirelessly helping her to run this growing home-based business with unwavering dedication.
In 2018, she was diagnosed with Severe Anxiety and Depression, conditions that were, in part, brought about by her demanding 15-year career in the public sector, where she performed highly specialised and often high-pressure work.
Then, in 2021, she faced another challenge when diagnosed with a physical disability—Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) affecting her wrist, elbow, and shoulder—resulting in permanent nerve damage that, unfortunately, is expected to worsen over time.
Since making the brave decision to voluntarily leave her job, she has committed herself to making the best of her situation by pouring her heart and soul into her art. This is now a full-time freelance position for Mea, working diligently from home and managing every single aspect of the business as best she can, with invaluable help and support from Anhevius, who balances a full-time job to keep their home running and the bills paid.
Whenever you reach out to PhoenixFire Art, you’re speaking directly with one of the two of them—no automated messages, no customer service representatives—just two passionate people fully dedicated to their craft and excited to share their unique vision with the world.
